TTS Boarders

I've managed to get all my blocks stitched and together for my TTS. I have used Lynette Anderson's range 'Scandinavian Christmas' and it seems that there is very little of this fabric left -anywhere. So I took along my top to Katoomba the other week to see what I could find to match.

On Friday night we were doing a spot of shopping before the retreat started on the Saturday and guess what I found..... Yeah the red & white heart fabric!!!

I couldn't find anymore of Lynette's rabric's so I settled for this French General.

So feeling pretty happy with my purchases, I couldn't wait to get started. But I had to wait a week due to the assignment from my last post.

On Saturday I put on the Red & White hearts, then I had to decide which outer boarder I liked best.

If changed the size of the outer boarder I would have enough of the Red Stars - ahhhh the choices.

After much discussion with my family, we decided on ..........
the stars

I have the binding ready to be cut and sewn into strips.

and my label just needs a boarder..........

So nice to spend the weekend sewing and not rushing around for children's sport.

Blue Mountains Retreat - Day 2

After a late night of laughing and stitching we said goodbye to our little blue house and headed back up to the retreat at 8.30am.

I started the day by taking a few photo's of the designers work

I just loved the colours and the quilting on this quilt - can you see how it radiates out from the dragon fly.

I think this was my favourite, sorry the photo really doesn't do it justice - Meadowlark by Gail Pan

I also really liked this cute little table topper by Lisa Cantlay

This is how my project was looking Sunday afternoon
- one end

and the other end

The designers happily jumped in for a photo with our table -
Back Row: Lisa Cantlay, Me, Susan, Sandra, Bernie, Lou & Carol Roberts
Front Row: Sam Margaret & Gail Pan.

I had a wonderful weekend, thankyou to Karen at 'The Stitching Post' - Katoomba

and lastly a HUGE thankyou to my friends (the Ort's) who made it a fantastic weekend - snow and all!

I can't wait to do it all again

Blue Moutains Retreat - Dinner

Saturday night we headed up to Katoomba to have dinner at a little Italian restaurant called Papadino's.
The service was great and the food was amazing!

I had penne Boscaiola - yummy!!!

This was the small serving, I'm so glad I didn't order the large.

This little restaurant was very family friendly. To keep children entertained whilst waiting for their meals, they give the children a small amount of dough to create something and then they cook it for them.

We must of looked young to the owner because we also got to play with some dough.
mmmmmmmmmm...... what shall we make????

and this was the finished product!! A real work of art........lol

We headed back to our little blue house to surprise one of the girls with birthday cake and pressie's.
No names mentioned here (sorry she would kill me)

Our dough creation came along to join in the celebrations!

We had a great night of laughs with a little bit of stitching thrown in.

Blue Mountains Retreat - Day 1

We had a great night on Friday night catching up with our house mates and attending the cocktail night at 'The Stitching Post'. Saturday morning we headed up to the retreat to finally see what our projects were going to be.

Our tables had these very cute table decorations and a bag with all our projects.

After spending quiet a lot of time looking at the designers beautiful displays and a little spot of shopping, I decided to make Gail Pan's table runner. I just love Lynette Anderson's fabric range 'Secret Garden' and thought that it would lend its self to this project beautifully.

I must admit that a weekend like this, is very much a social occasion for me - I spent lots of time talking and not a lot of stitching but I did manage to get a few bits sewn on.

After a busy day of sewing, talking and lots of laughing, we headed back to our little blue house. It was such a nice day compared to the day before so decided to explore the garden.

Such a pretty garden with lots of beautiful flowers. Time to head back inside and get ready for dinner.

Snow Snow and More Snow

Susan (Thimble Stitch) and I headed off on Friday morning expecting our trip to Katoomba to be a few hours long. We had heard news reports of the road being closed up in the blue mountains but it was past our destination so we thought we would be fine.

We first came across the fluffy white stuff about 40minutes into our trip.

We got out and took some photos knowing we only had 1.5 hours to go

We were making great progress, however that changed once we got through Lithgow. We sat looking at this sign for at least 30 mins

After a slow trip to the top of Mt Victoria we were starting to get really excited.
Sam (A Cup Full Of Stiches) was coming from Sydney and we were texting each other to make sure neither of us were stuck somewhere, when the traffic started to slow and then come to a complete stop.
And stop we did for 3 hours!!!

This is the entry into the Mt Boyce Weigh Station.

I think it was one of those moments where you have to see it to believe it. I have travelled this road so many times and never have I seen it look like this.

We finally arrived at our little blue house - 6 hours from when we orginally left home.

Thankyou Susan for getting us there safely.

Photo's from the Retreat to come later.

Brrrrrrrrrrr is for Blue Mountains!

After months of waiting and counting down the last few weeks /days, we are finally heading off to Katoomba for the ' Blue Mountains Quilt Retreat'.

Susan (Thimble Stitch) and I are meeting up with Sam (A Cup Full Of Stitches) and a few more lovely ladies we meet in Nowra last year, for a wonderful weekend of stitching.

The Stitching Post have organised 3 lovely designers for us ................
& I can't wait to see what our projects will be!!

I have packed all the important things - Show and Tell, Bubbles and Chocolate ........ I don't think we'll need anything else ....... *cheeky grin*

It is supposed to be snowing there today and Chicka informs me that it would be fun to play in the snow - I promised to send her a picture ..........................shhhhhh it will be from inside the house!

Perfect weather for stitching, I'd say!!!!!!!

I hope you all have an enjoyable weekend and find some time to do a little stitching.
